ME-QR positions itself as a free QR code generator for businesses. The product is fine — but you have to hand over your email before you can even test it. adfreeqr.com gives you the same output without the friction.
If you don't want to hand over an email to test a free tool, use adfreeqr.com. If you specifically need ME-QR's business templates (vCard, WhatsApp, Wi-Fi credentials) right now, ME-QR has them prebuilt — though those are all just static QR codes that adfreeqr.com can also encode, just with less guided UX.
What ME-QR does well
ME-QR has put real thought into specific use cases. Their templated flows for "QR code for restaurant menu", "QR code for vCard", "QR code for Wi-Fi password", and "QR code for Instagram" are well-designed — they walk you through each input field with examples. For a non-technical user who's never made a QR code before, the templated approach is friendlier than a generic URL field.
They also offer scan analytics on their paid tier, which is genuinely useful for marketing teams running campaigns.
The email friction
Here's what happens when you land on ME-QR: you can see the editor, but the moment you try to download anything — even a basic black-and-white QR — you hit a sign-up wall. Email required. Then they send you a verification email. Then a welcome email. Then product update emails. Then upgrade prompts.
For a one-off QR code for a wedding invitation or a restaurant menu, that's a lot of friction for what should be a 30-second task.

You can build that string yourself, paste it into adfreeqr.com, and get the same Wi-Fi QR. The templates ME-QR offers are convenience wrappers — useful for beginners, not strictly necessary. We may add these templates in a future update.
